Amy Whitney

Amy Whitney is a Senior Associate at Dentons in the Derivatives practice, specializing in Banking and Finance Law with a particular focus on derivatives and structured finance transactions. She advises on OTC derivatives, collateral arrangements, repo and stock lending, ESG‑related transactions, and regulatory compliance.

Amy acts for a wide range of clients including brokers, sovereign entities, central banks, investment banks, development banks, asset managers, pension trustees, and hedge funds. She drafts and negotiates ISDA master agreements, credit support documents, and master confirmation agreements across credit, FX, equities, interest rates, and commodities. She advises on financial products linked to carbon credit trading and energy transition matters, including EFET agreements and energy trading documentation. Amy has extensive experience in netting and collateral enforceability, regulatory compliance under Benchmarks Regulation, Dodd‑Frank, UK EMIR/EMIR, and the uncleared margin rules. She also advises on securities financing transactions under SFTR and negotiates GMSLAs, GMRAs, and MRAs, and assists with structured finance transactions including asset‑backed financing and warehouse facilities.

Before joining Dentons, Amy spent five years at a Magic Circle law firm and held in‑house roles at Goldman Sachs, HSBC, and Credit Suisse.

She holds a BA (Hons) in Geography from King's College London (2012), completed her GDL and LPC at BPP Law School, and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Banking and Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science (2021) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Finance from the University of Cambridge's Institute for Sustainability Leadership (2021). She qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales in 2014.
