Rachael Herbert

Rachael Herbert is a Senior Associate (Australia) at Dentons in London, practicing in the Real Estate Law group, specializing in planning law. She provides strategic advice on large‑scale residential developments, elder care, negotiating and drafting planning agreements, judicial review, public inquiry work, and the Community Infrastructure Levy.

Rachael has advised on a number of significant projects, including advising Westbourne Capital Partners on planning strategy for its Boundary and York Terrace East schemes; advising Places for People on the planning strategy for the Gilston Park Estate development of up to 10,000 homes; advising Queensgate Investments on the Kensington Forum hotel redevelopment; and advising Rockwell Property on its Westferry Quarter, Quay House, and Charlton Riverside developments. She also advised John Lewis plc on the planning agreement for the Clearings luxury residential development; Network Rail Infrastructure Limited on a Transport and Works Act Order; and Oxford City Council on the North Oxford development.

Rachael holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) from the Queensland University of Technology (2007) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the same institution (2009). She is admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland (2009) and is a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales. Prior to joining Dentons in 2013, she practised in Australia for over four years specialising in planning and environment work.

Rachael has been ranked as a “Leading Associate” by The Legal 500 UK (2025, 2026) and recognised as a “Rising Star” (2022–2024). She was also listed in the Newington Communications Women of Influence list for the property, planning, and built environment sector (2020).
