Ed Varney

Ed Varney is an Associate at Dentons in London, practicing in the Banking and Finance group, specializing in Capital Markets Law. He advises underwriters and issuers (corporates and financial institutions) on debt capital markets matters, including public listed eurobonds, private placements, MTN programmes, high‑yield bonds, and liability management exercises such as tender offers and exchange offers. He also advises investors on synthetic securitisations and significant risk transfer transactions across various asset classes.

Ed has been involved in notable transactions including advising on Silk Road Group Holding's US$400 million Rule 144A/Reg S high‑yield notes issue, mBank's €400 million Tier 2 bond issuance, ČEZ's sustainability‑linked bond issuance, and Kuwait International Bank's US$300 million Tier 1 capital sukuk issuance. He also advised on Admiral Group's tender offer and new issue of subordinated notes, and Globe Trade Centre's debut €500 million green bond issue.

Ed holds a BA (Hons) in History from Durham University (2017), a Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP University Law School (2018), and completed his Legal Practice Course at BPP University Law School (2019). He qualified as a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales in 2022.
