Ciara Hughes

Ciara Hughes is a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in Bird & Bird’s London Intellectual Property team, focusing on Trademark Law. She specialises in brand management.

She has experience advising clients at different stages within the lifecycle of their brand, from start-ups choosing a new brand name to larger, established brands with historic trade mark portfolios, and understands the diverse range of legal issues brand owners may face.

Her day-to-day work involves advising on clearance searches, international filing strategies, assignment and co-existence agreements, as well as trade mark oppositions and enforcement proceedings. She also advises clients on design protection and copyright.

Ciara is an editor of Bird & Bird’s monthly contribution of reports on recent trade mark cases to the CIPA (Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys) Journal. She also contributes to the CITMA (Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys) Review and Bird & Bird’s international brands publication, BrandWrites.
