Charlotte Colthurst

Charlotte Colthurst is a Senior Associate in the Intellectual Property team in London, specialising in brand management. Her primary practice area is Trademark Law.

Her primary focus is assisting clients with all aspects of brand management, including advising on filing and maintenance, brand expansion and enforcement strategies. This includes assessing the breadth of protection required, clearance searches, future-proofing and targeted enforcement. She has worked with a range of clients, from start-ups to long-standing brands, across sectors including media, entertainment, sport, retail and leisure, health and wellbeing, fashion, travel and transport, and the creative industries.

She has experience advising clients on IP customs registrations and counterfeiting, working with teams internationally to put customs protections in place around the world. She acts for clients in contentious trade mark matters and regularly works on opposition and cancellation proceedings before the UK and EU Intellectual Property Offices, and also advises on settlement negotiations and related agreements.

She supports clients with commercial aspects of IP, such as negotiating and drafting commercial agreements, including co-existence agreements and assignments. She also has experience advising on corporate and restructuring matters, carrying out IP due diligence for corporate transactions, IP audits, and drafting contracts related to complex licensing and assignment arrangements.

She is a member of IPSoc and AIPPI and holds a Master's degree in Art Business from Sotheby's Institute of Art, with a particular interest in art-related legal matters.
