Rebekah Sellars

Rebekah Sellars is an Associate in Bird & Bird's Intellectual Property Group in London. Her practice focuses on Intellectual Property Law, with experience in contentious and non-contentious IP matters in telecoms, media, retail and financial services, particularly concerning patents, trade marks, passing off and breach of confidence.

While she has a broad range of contentious and non-contentious experience ranging across all intellectual property rights, including copyright, trademarks, patents and passing off, her main areas of focus are trademarks, passing off and designs.

Her experience includes trademark clearance work, freedom to operate searches, transactional work and general trademark and design advisory work in the media, tech and comms, financial services and retail sectors. She is also involved in various global brand enforcement projects using innovative solutions to help clients monitor their anti-counterfeit programmes in a consistent and cost-efficient manner. She regularly advises large brands on issues regarding online infringement and has significant experience in domain name disputes.

Together with her international colleagues, she provides a streamlined process, creating strategies tailored to fit each brand's needs, helping to protect and enforce their rights from online infringement. She had the opportunity to work in-house, gaining a real insight into the clients' business operations, allowing her to offer real commercial value across her work.

She also has significant experience in high court litigation and arbitration proceedings. All of the cases she has been involved in have had an international element, meaning she has gained significant experience in advising on and coordinating global strategies both with colleagues in Bird & Bird's international offices and other local counsel.

In recent years, she has contributed to legal publications, including the Journal of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys.
