Kirsti Olson

Kirsti Olson is a Partner and Head of the Edinburgh office, specialising in construction dispute resolution within the Projects practice. She is dual-qualified in Scotland and England and has 29 years of post-qualification experience.

She deals with multi-million-pound construction disputes arising from the transport sector (rail and roads), energy-related projects (rig construction and refurbishment, offshore decommissioning and renewables), as well as PFI/PPP projects (schools, hospitals, prisons and roads) throughout the UK. Notable matters include acting in the defence of claims arising from the £1 billion construction of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh; representing Scottish & Southern Energy in the £130 million litigation following the collapse of the headrace tunnel at the Glendoe hydro scheme; and acting in proceedings arising from the decommissioning of six gas platforms for Shell UK. Her clients include Bouygues E&S Solutions, Ferrovial Construction, Jacobs, Capita and Network Rail.

Kirsti holds an LL.M (with Distinction) in Construction Law. She is a Member of the Society of Construction Law, a Member of the Scottish Arbitration Centre and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She previously served as Chair of Oil and Gas UK's Decommissioning Working Group and lectures on decommissioning at Aberdeen University.
