Dougal Burden

Dougal Burden is an Associate in Dentons' International Trade team, part of the Regulatory and Investigations group in London. His practice focuses on International Trade Law.

Dougal advises clients on all aspects of international trade law including export controls, trade and financial sanctions, national security, WTO law, tariffs and other international trade issues.

Prior to joining Dentons, Dougal was a lawyer in the UK's Government Legal Department advising the Department for Business and Trade. During his time in government, he advised on a range of both contentious and advisory international trade matters including investor-state dispute settlement, WTO disputes, export controls and sanctions. In 2024 he completed a secondment to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, advising on EU trade and relations. He also has experience in public law litigation and valuable insight into government policy making.

He holds an LPC LLM in Advanced Legal Practice from the University of the West of England and a BA (Hons) in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford.
