Darren Acres

Darren Acres is a Partner based in London and co-head of the UK corporate practice, practicing in the firm's Mergers and Acquisitions group. He has extensive experience advising on complex, cross-border M&A, covering both private and public M&A, as well as joint ventures, corporate advisory work (including corporate governance, FCA Listing Rules, AIM Rules, MAR, and the UK Takeover Code), and ECM transactions.

Mr. Acres has advised on numerous high-profile transactions, including advising bp on the sale of its Austrian mobility & convenience and EV charging businesses to Volenergy AG, advising TAQA on its acquisition of GS Inima, advising Hurricane Energy on its £272 million AIM IPO and subsequent £74 million capital raising, advising TotalEnergies on the disposal of a 50% stake in its Egyptian fuel retail business, and advising NYX Gaming Group on its £270 million acquisition of OpenBet. He has also advised Viaplay on its acquisition of Premier Sports, Libra Group on the sale of a 35% stake in LCI, and Morses Club on its IPO.

Darren holds an LLB and a BComm in Law from the University of Johannesburg (2005, 2003). He is recognized by Legal 500 UK as "incredibly commercial, pragmatic and responsive," ranked as a notable practitioner in IFLR1000, and included in the Legal 500 Africa Powerlist as a "Lawyer with outstanding expertise and knowledge of the African continent."
