Brian Hutcheson

Brian Hutcheson is a Partner in the firm's Real Estate practice group, based in the Glasgow office. He deals with all aspects of real estate work within Scotland, including estate management, acquisitions and disposals, development and regeneration, leasing, and real estate finance, including bridging finance. He has developed particular expertise in student accommodation, build-to-rent/multifamily, retail, and logistics.

Mr. Hutcheson has acted for clients ranging from airports and postal organizations to offshore investment funds, and for both public and private sector organizations. He has advised on more than £240 million of student accommodation development projects throughout Scotland, on the finance-backed investment purchase of a shopping centre in central Edinburgh with more than 40 occupiers, and on the acquisition of land in Glasgow for the construction of approximately 700 BTR/multifamily units. He also advised a UK-based lender on the real estate aspects of a c.£25 million facility for the acquisition of an office portfolio in central Edinburgh, and an international airport on the grant of tenancy rights to occupiers on the airport perimeter.

Brian holds an LLB (Hons) and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Glasgow (1994, 1995). He is the current Chair of the Investment Property Forum (IPF) in Scotland and has been recognized as a "Leading Partner" by The Legal 500 UK (2023-2026) and ranked Band 3 by Chambers and Partners (2025-2026).
