Tamara Mackay

Tamara Mackay is the Knowledge Development Lawyer in Bird & Bird's Data Protection team, focusing on Data Protection Law. She plays a key role in keeping colleagues and clients ahead of the curve with data protection, privacy, AI and cyber legal developments and emerging regulatory trends.

She monitors developments across legislation, case law and regulatory action and guidance, manages internal knowledge and AI content and systems, contributes to publications, and coordinates training. She also facilitates knowledge sharing with international data protection colleagues to support seamless cross-border advice.

She develops and manages how the team leverages legal tech, including a range of AI tools, to innovate and advise clients more efficiently. Prior to joining Bird & Bird in 2026, she was a senior associate at another firm, advising on all aspects of data protection and privacy, including regulatory investigations, cross-border data transfers, risk assessments, and compliance remediation projects.

Tamara is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe) (CIPP/E) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She also has a particular interest in legal design, including communicating legal information in more engaging and accessible ways.
