Ian Edwards

Ian Edwards is a Partner in Bird & Bird's Tech Transactions team in London. His practice focuses on Technology Law, advising clients on digital transformation projects and complex technology contracts.

With over 20 years' experience in the tech industry, Ian advises on all types of tech transactions, including cloud/SaaS, ICT/BPO outsourcing and AI projects, with a particular focus on strategic and transformational projects.

He supports clients from a wide range of industry sectors, with a particular area of interest in retail tech and sports tech.

He has been advising on legal issues in the AI sector for many years, with a particular focus on how tech contracting needs to evolve to deal with the unique opportunities and risks of AI. Innovation is at the core of his practice, whether that is advising on emerging technologies or helping clients successfully implement disruptive technology within their business.

He brings strong project management skills and a pragmatic, commercial approach to every engagement, guiding clients through the full project lifecycle, from initial strategic planning through to implementation and launch.

He studied Law at the University of Oxford (BA) and was admitted to The Law Society of England & Wales in 2001.
