Clara Desprez

Clara Desprez is an Associate in the Competition practice group in London, specialising in EU energy law, competition and utility regulation. Her primary practice area is Competition Law.

She joined Bird & Bird in 2022 after training as an avocate in France. Since then, she has gained extensive experience assisting clients in the context of investigations by national regulatory authorities, in particular competition and REMIT investigations, and of specific issues arising from EU and national regulation of the energy sector, in particular the EU internal energy market framework. This includes both advisory work, for example on the development of new market rules, and challenges to regulators' decisions.

She has also applied her regulatory experience and understanding of technical issues to other utility sectors, such as the water sector.

With her educational background in intellectual property, she also advises clients on competition issues involving intellectual property law.
