Charlie Davies

Charlie Davies is a Senior Associate in the Intellectual Property group in London, with an emphasis on patent litigation for life sciences clients. His primary practice area is Patent Law.

He has a particular focus on the pharmaceutical sector, having worked for a range of innovator, generic and biosimilar clients in proceedings before the High Court, Court of Appeal and the European Patent Office. His work has often involved coordination of multi-jurisdictional legal analysis across Europe and the US.

He holds a Master's in Chemistry from the University of Oxford, a background that allows him to grasp technical concepts quickly and engage in meaningful discussions with scientific experts with a view to preparing expert reports and declarations.

Before joining Bird & Bird, he spent 18 months on a part-time secondment to a multinational pharmaceutical client, working on freedom-to-operate and infringement analyses, strategy and coordination in relation to an extensive European patent portfolio, as well as day-to-day coordination between in-house legal and multi-jurisdictional external counsel teams.
