Lawyer Profile

Amy Barlow is a Senior Associate in Bird & Bird's international Employment Group, based in London. Her practice focuses on Employment Law.

Since joining Bird & Bird in 2012, she has advised on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters and has worked in-house for a client advising its HR Leadership team on both strategic and day-to-day employment issues.

On a daily basis, she advises on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters across the employment life cycle, and has acted for clients operating across a number of sectors, including aviation, utilities, media and retail.

Her experience includes advising and representing clients in both defending and issuing proceedings in the employment tribunal, and she generally advises on a broad range of workplace disputes and employee relations. She is regularly involved in drafting and negotiating settlement agreements for clients, as well as service agreements, reviewing and updating employment policies and handbooks, and advising on the employment aspects of large cross-border corporate transactions, including TUPE issues on business transfers and outsourcings.

She has built specialist expertise in relation to prospective and current employment tribunal claims, including advising on large-scale litigation as well as individual cases. Her recent casework includes claims relating to unfair dismissal, discrimination, TUPE, and claims for incorrectly calculated holiday pay.

In addition, she has spent six months on part-time secondment to an international utilities company, where she advised on a wide variety of employment matters including complex harmonisation and TUPE issues, general disciplinary, grievance and redundancy exercises, as well as other ordinary day-to-day HR queries.

She joined the international Employment Group upon qualification as a solicitor in March 2018, prior to which she worked for the team as a paralegal from March 2012, where she managed high-volume and complex employment tribunal claims.
