Akin Akinbode

Akin Akinbode is a Partner based in the London office, practicing in the firm's Construction Law and Dispute Resolution practice. He specializes in risk mitigation and management, dispute avoidance, and resolution of construction and engineering, operational and facilities management, and supply chain issues arising on infrastructure projects in the energy, power, transport, real estate, and public sectors.

Mr. Akinbode typically acts as "project counsel" on live projects, assisting clients with managing risks, negotiating amicable resolution of issues, and avoiding disputes regarding change orders/variations, loss and expense, delay and disruption, defective design/workmanship, build quality issues, and final accounts. He has advised on a US$1.5 billion mixed-use development in the CIS region in a US$350 million ICC arbitration, represented a major wind turbine manufacturer in various adjudications and arbitrations relating to wind farms in Scotland and Ireland, advised Goodman Logistics on a £170 million claim, and represented Taylor Wimpey on defects claims across the UK.

Akin holds an LLB (Hons) from Usmanu Danfodiyo University (1994), a BL from the Nigerian Law School (1995), an LL.M. from Queen Mary University of London (1998), and completed the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test at the College of Law (2004). He is a member of the Society of Construction Law.
