Stuart Jacobs

Stuart Jacobs is a Partner and Leasehold Enfranchisement Team Lead at RIAA Barker Gillette, based in London, practicing in Property Law. He is a versatile and experienced litigation lawyer focusing primarily on commercial, property, and civil litigation, with detailed knowledge of both contentious and non-contentious leasehold enfranchisement, compulsory purchase, covenants, easements, and landlord and tenant disputes.

Mr. Jacobs has successfully conducted numerous high-profile cases, including the confidential settlement of compulsory purchase proceedings brought by the Secretary of State for Transport in relation to the acquisition of buildings in front of Euston Station for HS2 on behalf of Euston Estate. He has also handled large-scale ancillary relief cases involving significant family assets (up to €56 million), reinsurance disputes, general contractual claims, and professional negligence matters.

He holds a BA (Hons) in Law from the University of Kent (1978) and was admitted as a Solicitor of England & Wales in 1981. He is a member of the Property Litigation Association, the Compulsory Purchase Association, the Dilapidations Association, and the Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners. He is a former Times Solicitor of the Week and is occasionally contacted by the media for his views and opinions.
