Daniel Downes

Daniel Downes is an Associate Solicitor at RIAA Barker Gillette (UK), practicing in Property Law and commercial litigation. He has considerable experience in disputes arising out of leasehold interests, including rent and service charge recovery, leasehold and collective enfranchisement, and receives regular instructions from commercial and residential landlords and tenants.

Mr. Downes has acted on a wide variety of property and commercial litigation matters, including possession claims, trespass claims, service charge disputes, specific performance claims, and debt recovery and insolvency proceedings. He regularly acts for one of London's biggest property developers with current sales exceeding £2 billion, handling its on-going property litigation concerns. He also handles commercial litigation involving directorship and joint venture disputes, and contentious employment work including unfair dismissal and discrimination claims.

He holds a BSc Combined (Hons) (1994), a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Nottingham Law School (1998), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (2000). He was admitted as a Solicitor of England & Wales in 2005 and is a member of the Property Litigation Association and the Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners.
