Rachel Howell

Rachel Howell is an Associate in Bird & Bird’s International Dispute Resolution team in London, focusing on Commercial Litigation. She advises clients across a broad range of disputes and practises both litigation and arbitration.

She regularly advises shareholders, HNWIs, companies and financial institutions in complex, high-value and often multi-jurisdictional disputes. She has represented clients in proceedings before the English High Court and in international arbitration (LCIA, ICC and ad hoc), and also has experience in alternative dispute resolution processes such as mediation and expert determination.

She works with clients operating in a variety of sectors, including financial services, technology, sport, media, hospitality and retail. She has experience advising on matters involving breach of contract, fraud, misrepresentation, crisis management and unlawful means conspiracy. She enjoys working with clients at the early stage of a dispute to help shape strategy and better direct the process before formal proceedings commence.

She qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales at her former firm in September 2020. As a qualified solicitor at her previous firm, she also completed a six-month secondment as legal counsel to a global media and advertising agency, where she worked on a variety of commercial and contentious matters.
