Martin Fanning

Martin Fanning is the Non-Executive Chair of the UK, Ireland and Middle East Board, a member of the Global Board, and a technology and commercial partner based in Dentons' London office, practicing in Technology Law. He has advised public bodies, financial institutions, and other large corporates on complex information technology, intellectual property, and data protection matters for more than 25 years.

Mr. Fanning advises regularly on business process and IT outsourcing, cross-border sourcing, and procurement arrangements for major FTSE and Fortune businesses, with a significant advisory practice across IT, AI, cloud and SaaS arrangements, digital content, IP licensing, and e-commerce and advertising compliance. He holds CIPP/E certification and is a member of Dentons' Global Data Privacy team, advising on data protection matters from BAU compliance to complex international transfers, incident response, BCRs, and data audit projects.

He has been recognized in Financial News' Fifty Most Influential Lawyers in Europe 2026, ranked as a leading partner in Chambers 2026 for Commercial Contracts, as a Leading Individual by Legal 500 for TMT, Retail, FinTech, and Privacy/Data Risk, and as a Thomson Reuters Stand-Out Lawyer. He holds a BA in Modern History (First Class) from Exeter College, University of Oxford (1996), completed the CPE and LPC with commendation at The College of Law, Chester, and holds CIPP/E certification from IAPP.
