Makeda Evans

Makeda Evans is a Senior Lawyer in Dentons' Helix team, based in the London office, practicing in Media Law. Her main area of focus is non-contentious commercial work and deal-making within the TV and media industry, with extensive experience negotiating and concluding deals with distributors, broadcasters, and financiers for scripted and unscripted content across all stages of the production process.

Her experience spans development (options, formats, shopping agreements, broadcaster development contracts), commission (broadcaster terms of trade, production packs, contributor releases, talent agreements, production financing arrangements, and co-productions), acquisitions (content licence agreements), and ancillary commercial exploitation (agency agreements, merchandise agreements, brand licences, and clip/stills licences). Prior to joining Dentons, she worked for in-house legal teams including at a global independent production group and the BBC, where she undertook her training contract.

Makeda holds an LLB from Kingston University (2004) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Westminster (2006).
