Kirsty McBirnie

Kirsty McBirnie is a Partner in the Banking and Finance practice at Dentons' Edinburgh office, advising on UK and cross-border financing transactions. She is dual qualified in Scotland and in England & Wales.

She has more than 20 years' experience advising banks and financial institutions, investors, funds, government bodies and corporate borrowers on corporate lending, acquisition finance, syndicated lending, investment finance, real estate finance and restructurings. She leads large domestic and international transactions involving multiple lenders and borrower groups, and frequently coordinates multi-jurisdictional teams on complex cross-border projects. She is increasingly active in the energy and infrastructure sectors, including financings supporting the energy transition, and has particular experience in the food and beverage sector.

Kirsty holds an LL.B (Hons) (1998) and a Diploma in Legal Practice (1999) from the University of Glasgow, including a year at Stockholm University.

She is recognised for her pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions and is a qualified triathlete, coaching voluntarily at Pentland Triathletes Juniors.
