Claire Maclean

Claire Maclean is a Counsel in the Employment team at Dentons' Edinburgh office, advising employer clients in the public and private sectors on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.

Her expertise ranges from providing practical advice on day-to-day HR queries to strategic advice on complex business reorganizations, redundancies and TUPE transfers. She has considerable experience in all aspects of TUPE, whether business transfers or changes in service provider, and provides employment law support to the firm's Corporate and Property teams on mergers, acquisitions and outsourcing. She represents clients across the UK in the Employment Tribunal defending claims including unfair and wrongful dismissal, discrimination, equal pay, unlawful deduction from wages and breach of contract. Notable successes include defending a manufacturing client against multiple unfair dismissal claims arising from a large-scale collective redundancy and site closure, and successfully defending a utilities client in three separate claims arising from disputed TUPE transfers.

Claire qualified as a solicitor in 2004 and has specialised in employment law since then. She is experienced in private and judicial mediations and enjoys designing and delivering bespoke training for clients.
