Sam Kemp

Sam Kemp is an Associate in the London-based Privacy & Data Protection team. His primary practice area is Data Protection Law.

He advises UK and international clients on a wide range of technology and digital regulatory issues, with a particular focus on advertising and adtech. He helps clients navigate the increasingly complex landscape of digital regulation, including the full range of privacy, cyber and data law, with his practice sitting at the intersection of law, technology and commercial strategy.

He provides advisory and transactional support to clients in the advertising, media and entertainment sectors on sophisticated adtech arrangements, including designing and implementing data commercialisation and monetisation strategies, advising on the procurement and deployment of adtech platforms (including DSPs, DMPs and SSPs), and handling complex privacy compliance issues arising in connection with advertising technologies.

He is also interested in the privacy implications of innovative technologies, such as issues relating to the development and use of AI. More broadly, he has extensive experience advising on more traditional privacy issues, whether designing and implementing governance frameworks, supporting complex contracting arrangements, or advising on how to deal with major cyber incidents.

He works with clients across a broad range of sectors, with a focus on media & entertainment, retail & consumer, and technology & communications. Before joining Bird & Bird, he trained and qualified at a global firm, where he advised clients on the full range of privacy and cyber law.
