Maureen Coen

Maureen Coen is an Associate in the London-based Privacy & Data Protection team. Her primary practice area is Data Protection Law, and she advises UK and international clients on technology, data protection and privacy issues.

Her work covers all aspects of data protection law, including coordinating multi-jurisdictional EU/UK GDPR compliance projects, developing data protection policies and data processing agreements, advising on direct marketing and cookie regulations, and providing assistance with data security incidents, data subject rights requests and data transfers.

She also advises on data protection issues within an M&A context and regularly reviews data protection considerations within commercial agreements. She has worked with businesses in a range of sectors including media and entertainment, technology, and consumer and retail.

Before joining Bird & Bird, she trained as a solicitor and qualified into the Commercial & Technology team of a Tier 1 firm in Ireland. Prior to this, she worked in management consulting, specialising in process efficiency and operational effectiveness.
